Now Liking Gangnam Style is Racist???

At least you know I’m not racist – that song is F’in annoying, as is this article in the NY Times about suddenly famous Psy, the Korean rapper responsible for this ridiculously popular (and yeah, okay, hilarious) video.  I don’t know why I bothered linking that video; you’re probably one of the 410 million who’ve already seen it, and possibly even one of the almost 4 million who’ve “liked” it.  I’m sorry to inform you, but that may mean you’re racist.

See, according to some twerp quoted in the Times article,

“Psy is the ‘Asian man who makes it’ because he fits neatly into our pop cultural milieu wherein Asian men are either kung-fu fighters, Confucius-quoting clairvoyants or the biggest geeks in high school.”

I thought this article, “A South Korean Star, and the Horse He Rode In On” was supposed to be about this new hot rapper, but no – it’s about how his fans might be unconsciously categorizing him as a Pandaren, or something.  Nice way to trick people into reading your insults, NY Times blogger Mark McDonald.  OH, I get it – the horse is a metaphor for racism!

To be fair, McDonald also quotes people who say you might not be racist after all, because:

  • the video is really funny;
  • you probably weren’t the intended audience anyway, unless you’re South Korean; and
  • Psy doesn’t seem to take himself too seriously.

But if YOU don’t take him seriously, you’re… hang on a sec, let me make sure I get this right… oh yeah, racist.  You’ve been influenced by the “popular Western media[, which] doesn’t tend to take east Asian men seriously.”  And it’s a shame that,

“What is missing from much commentary on Psy’s video is the existing American cultural context that embraces stereotypes of Asians while rejecting more realistic portrayals.”

Did you include your thoughts on Neo-Orientalism in your YouTube comment?  Well then, you have some reflecting to do, don’t you?

Honestly, I don’t take Psy very seriously – then again, I don’t take most rappers very seriously.  [That’s probably indicative of unconscious racism according to someone whose opinion is irrelevant.]  And I normally wouldn’t take Mark McDonald very seriously, even though his article was published in the NY Times, because the Times has been mostly crap for years.  But the gaping hole in this theory that he inexplicably presents as legit is so ridiculous, I had to highlight it:

Somehow, the Western media almost exclusively portrays Asian men as “kung-fu fighters, Confucius-quoting clairvoyants or the biggest geeks in high school,” yet simultaneously does not take them seriously.

I don’t know about you, but I take Kung Fu fighters, Confucius-quoting clairvoyants and the biggest geeks in high school VERY seriously.  Who wouldn’t take an MMA-guru-CEO seriously???

I know, I know.  I’m racist.*  Bad, bad werewolf.

*Except for judging people based on race – that part I don’t do.  It’s just all the other things, like thinking Affirmative Action makes no sense if it benefits Carlton Banks at the expense of some poor white kid.

Illegal = Racist?

Don’t call “undocumented” immigrants “illegal” immigrants – they might cry.  Or sue you.  Or whine to the media some more about how it’s not nice to label them based on the way they entered the United States of America (illegally).

“By saying illegal, they’re assuming that we broke a criminal law,” said Jackeline Saavedra, 27, of Bay Shore, a Touro Law Center student who identified herself as undocumented. “Not everybody enters illegally.”

Well, pardon me. So you entered legally but you what, overstayed your visa?  That’s illegal, too, sweetheart.

Avoid the ghetto? Why yes, thank you.

He specifically named streets I should never drive down.  Why?  Because some people are RACIST (thugs don’t like werewolves) and would go out of their way to hurt me.

Have you ever been led by your GPS through a part of town full of people who SCOWL at your average sedan just for being on their street (Perth Amboy, New Jersey I am looking at YOU)?  Soon, your GPS may be able to offer you the option not to travel through a high-crime area.  Microsoft recently patented a concept for an app (said app is still in development) that will tell your GPS if a lot of crime happens in an area on the shortest route to your destination.

Predictably, some whiny losers at the NAACP are whining about “racism.”

Dallas NAACP president Juanita Wallace apparently does not understand that this app is not mandatory or capable of preventing anyone from driving through the ghetto:

“Can you imagine me not being able to go to MLK Blvd. because my GPS says that’s a dangerous crime area? I can’t even imagine that,” she said.

No, I can’t either.  Stupid human.

OH WAIT, she just equated MLK Blvd. with the ghetto!  That’s RACIST!

Just sayin’.

A Dallas resident named Tommy Jones said:

“From a business standpoint, it could be devastating,” he said. “Especially in the area of tourism.”

Right, because when people unexpectedly wind up driving through the ghetto, their first thought is to get out of the car and buy something.  “Hey, a Subway!  You don’t see those in the ‘burbs!”  And what is this association of high-crime areas with tourism?  If people are getting stabbed outside the museum, guess what – people are going to avoid the museum.  It’s called having the desire to live with all your organs intact – accept it and stop whining.

Wallace continued to demonstrate her lack of willingness or ability to think by stating:

“What happens in North Dallas certainly ought to be no different than what happens in South Dallas, so we can’t keep on doing this… This type of technology is certainly going to pronounce and heighten it to some degree.”

Perhaps it “ought to be” no different, but apparently, it IS, and this app is not going to make it worse.  You know what it might do? It might decrease traffic in some areas (I would say thanks!) by alerting people to the fact that those areas are HIGH CRIME AREAS.  I’m sorry if you want to keep people who don’t know that in the dark (thereby possibly endangering their lives) just so you can pretend no one there hates white or Asian people and that Hispanic and black people in the ghetto just love love love each other.  (And Dominicans and Puerto Ricans usually won’t even let their kids date each other!)  So if you want to take a stand against racism, you should start on MLK Blvd.

And because I don’t want to have to go out of my way when streets are blocked off by police due to a stabbing (Thank you, Newark, New Jersey), if my GPS ever offers me the option to avoid the ghetto, my reply will be, “Yes, let’s.”

Because I talk to my GPS.

I don’t know Morgan Freeman

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , , on September 26, 2011 by conservativewerewolf

and I’m pretty sure he doesn’t know me.  But he said I’m a racist.

According to the Voice of God, Tea Partiers are racist, and, seeing as how your old pal Conservative Werewolf has attended a few of those social gatherings, that means I am, too.  Which is weird, because I never knew I held any disdain for minorities.  Ah well, you learn something new everyday.

*raises hand*

I have a question.  Why do TV news show hosts ask liberals to explain the motivations of conservatives?  If Piers “Look I Have a TV Show in America!!” Morgan sincerely wants to understand us, WHY DOES HE NOT ASK US ABOUT OURSELVES?

I’ma take a stab at the answer.  Perhaps he thinks we would lie to save face.  Being racist is not only fucked up, but super passe.  We wouldn’t want to sully the image of our brand new shiny movement with the truth of our evil twisted black hearts -oh shit, was that racist?  Considering I’m a Tea Partier, probably so, even though I didn’t mean it that way.

Actually Morgie, the answer you would get from your average Tea Partier would be the truth.  Let’s imagine how this might go:

Q: Are Tea Partiers “out to get” President Obama?
A: We’re out to get him out of office.

Q: Is it because he’s black?
A: No.

Q: Are you sure?
A: Quite.

Q: But you don’t like him.
A: We’ll, most of us haven’t met him, but we don’t appreciate what he’s doing to us and the economy, particularly through Obamacare.

Q: But he wants to make America a better place!
A: What he said was that he wants to “fundamentally transform” America, and he’s doing that, if by “fundamentally transform” he means “make suck” or “create a new normal of nearly 20% un/underemployment.”

Q: Tell us the truth – this is really about Obama being black.
A: Please note that we’re not the ones who said he’s black.  He said he’s black, when in truth he’s biracial: half black and half white.  But if he wants to adhere to the racist notion that a drop of “black blood” makes one black, then whatever, we’ll call him what he wants to be called.  It doesn’t really matter – what matters are his policies.

Q: That’s not really the answer I was looking for.  Aren’t there a lot of Tea Partiers who are racist?
A: No.  In fact, there are minorities in the Tea Party.  But I suppose there could be some scattered about, considering there are plenty of racist liberals.

Q: That’s impossible!  You can’t be a liberal and be racist!
A: Tell that to the racist liberals.  Oh, and don’t forget the misogynistic ones.  They’re a hoot.

Q: I don’t believe liberals can be racist.  Liberals are all about fairness and justice.
A: And inclusivity?

Q: Yes, that’s right.
A: Well then, I certainly hope you’ll have a nice time at your next Black Panther meeting.

Q: That’s completely off topic.
A: So’s your face.

Q: That doesn’t make any sense!
A: You started it.

Q: Okay, let’s get back on topic.  Can you prove to us that Tea Partiers are not racist?
A: Ooh, here’s a better game – prove to us that YOU’RE not racist.

Q: Well, of course I’m not racist!  I know that it doesn’t make any sense to assume that someone is inferior based on his or her skin color.
A: Just like it doesn’t make sense to assume a person is intelligent based on his or her British accent.

So, why don’t hosts like Piers Morgan ask question to people who actually have the answers?  Because, instead of being provided the answer they want, they would get answers they don’t want.  They might even open up a dialogue about -gasp- THE ISSUES.  And, being that it’s very difficult to defend a craptastic economy, it’s better to avoid the discussion altogether by labeling their ideological opponents “racists” or “Nazis” or “fascists” or what-have-you.

Seriously, guys, thinking is hard.  Let’s not ask too much of liberal news show hosts or their celebrity tools.
